Bayern finally get Gavel, sign Serb veteran Savanovic and German youngster Mayr

After weeks of watching other teams make headlines, it was time for Beko BBL champions Bayern Munich to strike. And they did in a big way. It was a long (some may say way too long) time coming but Bayern finally got their man in signing Anton Gavel on a two-year deal. Besides his übervaluable German passport, Gavel still has plenty of top level basketball in his body and the two-time Defensive Player of the Year gets to play in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague again. Gavel will give coach Svetislav Pesic a lot of options as well as a lock-down defender on the perimeter. It’s not a surprise but it’s a strong signing by Munich. While he says he was looking for a new challenge - and revels at the chance to play with good friend Heiko Schaffartzik, listen to what else Gavel says about the move (in German).
