Telekom Baskets Bonn bounced back from their disappointing MagentaSport BBL German Cup loss to ALBA BERLIN with a hard-fought 79-72 win at Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. Leon Kratzer led the way with 24 points for Bonn, who remain undefeated in the league at 3-0. Braunschweig still have not won at 0-4 despite 20 points from David Krämer.

Game Summary: Braunschweig struggled with turnovers early and Bonn took advantage with an 11-2 run to lead 23-13. The score was 23-14 after 10 minutes and the guests led 26-16 before Braunschweig scored 11 straight points for their first lead - with the biggest cushion later being two points. Bonn pulled back ahead and led 40-36 at the break.

Neither team scored for more than 3 minutes to open the second half. Bonn tried to regain control and pushed ahead 54-45 only to watch Braunschweig get within 57-56 and the score was 59-56 after 30 minutes. Braunschweig tried to stay close and trailed by just 5 points inside the final minute. But TJ Shorts made four free throws in the final 34 seconds to ice the game.

Numbers Please: Bonn dominated the game inside with a 46-32 advantage of points in the paint. Tuomas Iisalo's team also shot a blistering 64.1 percent on two-pointers whild holding Braunschweig to just 39.4 percent from the floor.

Player of the Game: Leon Kratzer was too much for Braunschweig as the Bonn big man scored 24 points on 11-of-13 shots and 2-of-2 free throws to go with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Kratzer was just two points off his career high of 26 points.

The Germans: In addition to Kratzer, Bonn also got a big game from the Chilean-German Sebastian Herrera with 11 points and 3 assists. The hosts had David Krämer as leading scorer with 20 points while Brandon Tischler picked up 13 points and 4 rebounds and Robin Amaize tallied 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

Also Newsworthy: Braunschweig actually did a pretty good job on TJ Shorts, who was held to just 15 points on 5-of-14 shots - 10.6 points below his season average in all competitions. But the Bonn playmaker did chip in 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

What's up next: Braunschweig will have another chance to win their first game on Sunday October 30 when they travel to FRAPORT SKYLINERS. Bonn, for their part, will next host BG Göttingen in the league on Saturday October 29. Before that, Bonn will travel to Greece and face AEK Athens in the Basketball Champions League on Tuesday October 25.
