NINERS Chemnitz wasted a 12-point lead but managed to finish strong in grabbing an 82-79 victory at HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim. Aher Uguak and Marko Filipovity both scored 12 points to lead Chemnitz, who snapped a two-game losing skid for a 10-7 record. Crailsheim have now lost two straight to fall to 7-11. Maurice Stuckey and James Batemon both tallied 15 points in the defeat.
Game Summary: Maurice Stuckey hit two three-pointers as Crailsheim led 8-2 early. Jonas Richter answered with seven points to put Chemnitz up 12-10, and the guests led 23-20 after 10 minutes. Crailsheim could never reclaim the lead in the third quarter and back-to-back triples in the final minute gave Chemnitz a 50-42 lead at halftime.
Chemnitz led multiple times by 10 points in the third quarter with Crailsheim able to trim the deficit to 55-51. Eight consecutive points extended the guests’ lead to 63-51 and it was 64-58 after three quarters. Chemnitz scored the first six points of the final frame to lead by 12 points. Crailsheim raced back into the game with a 16-4 run to even it 74-74. Arnas Velicka answered with a three-pointer and Richter made it a five-point lead. Bogdan Radosavljevic’s three-pointer made it interesting but Jaren Lewis missed his shot and Stuckey missed both free throws with 3.5 seconds to go to possibly force overtime.
Numbers Please: Chemnitz shot 55.9 percent on two-pointers compared to 47.6 percent for Crailsheim. The guests also had a 10-5 advantage in second chance points.
Player of the Game: Arnas Velicka flirted with a triple-double as the Lithuanian playmaker collected 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Germans: Jonas Richter picked up 11 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 steals for the winners. Maurice Stuckey sank 5 three-pointers as he scored 15 points in the loss and Bogdan Radosavljevic chipped in 5 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Also Newsworthy Part 1: Chemnitz have just about finished a tough stretch of their season as this was their fifth straight road game - three in the league and two in the FIBA Europe Cup.
Also Newsworthy Part 2 Chemnitz won both of their matchups with Crailsheim this season after having lost all five of their previous games against the host side - four times in league and one game in German Cup.
What’s up next: Crailsheim’s next game in the league will be on Saturday February 11 when they play at BG Göttingen. Nikola Markovic’s team will be in action before that as they must beat Gaziantep and hope for a FC Kalev/Cramo loss to Heroes Den Bosch to reach the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Europe Cup.
