NINERS Chemnitz wasted a 20-point lead and an 11-point fourth quarter cushion but still grabbed their first road victory of the season by beating Basketball Löwen Braunschweig 86-81. Chemnitz scored the final six points of the game to survive for a 2-1 record in the league as Kaza Kajami-Keane paced the team with 23 points. Braunschweig had won all three of their games - two in the easyCredit BBL and their BBL German Cup first round contest - but tasted defeat for the first time to fall to 2-1.
Game Summary: Braunschweig were missing starting point guard Ahmaad Rorie with a shoulder injury as well as a sick Brandon Tischler. The hosts scored the first four points but were out of sorts after that. Kaza Kajami-Keane scored 8 points and Chemnitz big man Kevin Yebo collected 7 points in a 20-0 run for a 20-4 lead. Yebo moved to 13 points to extend the advantage to 19 points 31-12 with the score 31-15 after 10 minutes.
The veteran leadership of DeAndre Lansdowne carried Chemnitz’s lead to 20 points 39-19. The hosts began to get back into the game thanks to Jilson Bango inside and TJ Crockett converted a four-point play and a three-pointer to trim the margin to 46-37 at intermission.
The Braunschweig momentum continued in the second half - sparked by Bango and Nicholas Tischler - with the first 11 points and the hosts led 48-46. Aher Uguak finally scored Chemnitz’s first points of the half with a triple after more than 4 minutes. Three more three-pointers and Chemnitz surged ahead 62-55. And the guests were leading 64-58 after 30 minutes.
Yet another triple early in the fourth quarter put Chemnitz back ahead by double figures 73-62. Braunschweig were not done yet with two long balls of their own to get within 5 points and watched as Yebo fouled out with almost 5 minutes to go. Braunschweig three times trimmed the deficit to one point and finally reclaimed the 81-80 lead with 74 seconds left when Tischler flew in for a putback dunk on a missed three-pointer. Lansdowne responded ice-cold with a corner triple with 37 seconds remaining and Chemnitz made 3-of-4 free throws and Braunschweig's Barra Njie missed both foul shots with 7.2 seconds left.
Numbers Please: Chemnitz shot 49.2 percent from the field and 15-of-20 (75.0 percent) from the free throw line while Braunschweig made 46.0 percent of their shots and 14-of-22 (63.6 percent) of their free throws.

Player of the Game: Kaza Kajami-Keane was outstanding the whole game in leading Chemnitz with 23 points to go with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Germans: Kevin Yebo was a force for Chemnitz with 19 points and 8 rebounds - 6 of them from the offensive glass. Braunschweig forward Nicholas Tischler produced for himself and his absent twin brother Brandon with a team-high 18 points to go with 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Ferdinand Zylka added 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists off the Braunschweig bench.
Also Newsworthy: DeAndre Lansdowne was a killer for Chemnitz against his former team. The veteran guard, who guided Braunschweig to their last playoffs appearance in 2018-19, collected 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Also Newsworthy Part II: Braunschweig's talented Angolan center Jilson Bango had his best game of the young season with 13 points, 13 rebounds (5 offensive rebounds), 1 assist and 1 block.
