FIT/One Würzburg Baskets secured the tiebreaker over MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg in the fight for the playoffs with, in the end, a comfortable 77-60 home victory. Würzburg allowed only 9 points in the fourth quarter to improve to 11-9 thanks to Zac Seljaas scoring 23 points as the league's top scorer Jhivvan Jackson was limited to 9 points. Ludwigsburg fell to 11-10 and still have not won on the road in 2025.

Game Summary: Ludwigsburg opened the scoring but the start of the game belonged to Zac Seljaas who poured in 10 points for a 13-5 Würzburg lead. After Seljaas’ third triple made it 18-10, Ludwigsburg closed the first quarter with a push to trail just 19-17. Ludwigsburg could not figure out any offense in the second quarter, needing almost 5 minutes to score during which Würzburg went up 23-17. Ludwigsburg tied the game 23-23 only to see Würzburg put together a 10-2 surge for a 33-25 cushion. The guests did not let Würzburg pull away further and trailed 35-30 at the break.
Würzburg scored first in the second half with Ludwigsburg hitting two triples in an 8-0 run to pull ahead 38-37 over nearly 4 minutes. And the guests led 42-40 midway through the quarter. Four lead changes followed and Ludwigsburg led 51-49 after three quarters. Jhivvan Jackson finally scored his first points in the fourth quarter and combined with Seljaas for 13 points in an 18-3 start to the final frame and Würzburg led 68-54 with 3 minutes left to decide the game.

Numbers Please: Würzburg held Ludwigsburg to just 32 percent shooting including 24 percent from long range - 10 of 42 (!) three-pointers for the guests. Those woeful shooting numbers overshadowed Ludwigsburg grabbing 19 offensive rebounds and turning them into a 21-2 advantage in second chance points.

Player of the Game: Zac Seljaas is the easy choice as he started on fire with 10 points in the first 4:33 minutes and finished with 23 points to go with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

The Germans: Lukas Wank collected 7 points, 2 assists and 2 steals while 18-year-old Hannes Steinbach chipped in 5 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block for the winners. At the other end, Jacob Patrick hit 2 three-pointers for 10 points and brother Johannes Patrick collected 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Jackson finally gets going in fourth: Jhivvan Jackson came into the game as the league's leading scorer at 20.1 points per game. The Würzburg scoring ace went into the fourth quarter scoreless and having attempted just one shot. Jackson ended up scoring 9 points - the lowest output of the season - though he did have 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal.

Also Newsworthy: Despite an offensive nightmare game for Ludwigsburg, Hunter Maldonado was the sole shining light. He scored 20 points on 7 of 11 shots and 3 of 6 free throws and added 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steals for an efficiency of 22. No other Ludwigsburg player registered an efficiency in double figures.

What's Up Next: Würzburg will next host AEK Benson BC Athens in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League on Tuesday March 4. Sasa Filipovski’s team will play at SYNTAINICS MBC next in the Bundesliga on Sunday March 9. Ludwigsburg just came back from break but have two weeks off before their next game in the league at SKYLINERS on Sunday March 16. But Ludwigsburg will play a big game at JDA Dijon on Wednesday March 5 in the FIBA Europe Cup Quarter-Finals.
