NINERS Chemnitz wasted a 16-point lead with 7 minutes to go but fought off ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES 108-102 in an overtime thriller to stay in the running for home court advantage in the playoffs. Playing their final home game of the regular season, Chemnitz needed a Nicholas Tischler alley-oop layup with 0.5 seconds remaining to force overtime - Chemnitz’s second extra session in three days. Chemnitz improved to 17-13 record including the tiebreaker over Rostock with two wins. Jeff Garrett paced six Chemnitz players in double figures with 22 points. Rostock have dropped two straight games for a 16-14 mark as they hope to qualify for at least the play-ins. Malik Osbourne collected a monster double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Game Summary: The threes were falling early and JeQuan Lewis hit two triples for a 10-7 Rostock lead. There were four lead changes - the last one starting a 9-0 Rostock surge over nearly 4 minutes for a 21-13 advantage. And the guests were up 21-18 after 10 minutes. Nijal Pearson drained back-to-back threes and Rostock surged ahead 30-21. Chemnitz answered with the next eight points but could not grab the lead as Pearson hit another triple. The hosts finally pulled back ahead 42-39 and went into halftime ahead 47-46.
Rostock reclaimed the lead 49-48 but then went scoreless for 3 minutes and two Chemnitz triples had the hosts up 56-49. The hosts kept up the strong play and extended the advantage to double figures at 65-55. And Chemnitz were up 70-62 after 30 minutes. Chemnitz appeared to take control of the game with a 82-66 lead with 7 minutes to play. Rostock would not go away as Pearson and Malik Osborne combined for 13 points in a 15-2 run over 5 minutes to make it 84-81 with 2 minutes left. Osborne put back a miss for a 91-90 lead with 7.9 seconds left. Pedro Bradshaw made just one free throw with 2.7 seconds to go for a 94-92 Rostock lead, leaving the door open for Chemnitz. DeAndre Lansdowne tossed his inbounds pass to Nicholas Tischler, who laid it in to tie the game with his first points of the game. Rostock managed just one free throw in the first 3 minutes of the extra session and trailed 101-95. Rostock failed to execute down the stretch and the hosts made 7 of 10 free throws in the final 89 seconds.

Numbers Please: Chemnitz were hot from the outside with 13 of 28 triples for 46 percent and only committed 10 turnovers in 45 minutes. Rostock made just 45 percent for the game.

Player of the Game: There were plenty of options - including Kevin Yebo coming off the bench for 20 points and Jacob Gilyard's double-double of 17 points and 11 assists. But Jeff Garrett led Chemnitz in scoring with 22 points - including the first five points in overtime - as he drained 4 three-pointers while also picking up 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.

The Germans: Kevin Yebo poured in 20 points to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists as he scored in double figures for the ninth time in 10 games since returning to Chemnitz. Nicholas Tischler chipped in 5 points - the big score to send the game to overtime as well as three free throws in the final 16 seconds of the game - to go with 2 rebounds. At the other end, Elias Baggette picked up 7 points and 2 assists and Philipp Hartwich tallied 2 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.

Osborne leads Rostock’s strong rebounding: Rostock won the rebound battle 50-35 including grabbing 19 offensive rebounds - which resulted in 31 second chance points. Eight of the offensive rebounds went to Malik Osborne, who finished the game with season highs of 26 points, 8 offensive rebounds and 15 total rebounds. He also contributed 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block for an efficiency of 37.

Chemnitz jersey to be auctioned for a good cause: Chemnitz were playing in specially-designed jerseys that after the game will be signed by the players and auctioned in the club’s online fan shop. The earnings will be donated to the Lukas Stern eV organization.

What's Up Next: Chemnitz will finish the regular season on the road as they travel to Veolia Towers Hamburg on Wednesday May 7 and then face EWE Baskets Oldenburg on Sunday May 11. Rostock for their part host Basketball Löwen Braunschweig on Thursday May 8 and then play at BG Göttingen on Sunday May 11.
