MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg spoilt the big party for Karsten Tadda - who evened the record for most games played in the Bundesliga - by barely holding on in a 75-73 win at Bamberg Baskets to stay alive in the race for the play-ins. Ludwigsburg nearly gave away a 6-point lead in the final 45 seconds but improved to 15-15 with their third win in the last four games. Joel Scott paced Ludwigsburg with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Bamberg fell to 11-19 despite Kyle Lofton's 15 points off the bench.
Game Summary: Ludwigsburg’s defense stood strong early on, giving up just one baskets in the first 5 minutes and Joel Scott scored 9 points for a 12-4 lead. Bamberg knocked down two three-pointers and trailed 18-14 after 10 minutes. Bamberg needed more than 3 minutes to score in the second quarter but only were down 21-14. A second triple from Scott increased the advantage to 26-18. Bamberg four times trimmed the deficit to four points and trailed 35-31 at the break.
Ludwigsburg scored the first four points of the second half and six straight points later in the period pushed the margin to double figures 49-39. Kyle Lofton stepped up with 10 points the rest of the quarter and Bamberg were down 58-53 after three quarters. Ludwigsburg picked up the first four points of the final frame and it was 62-53. The hosts would not give up and Noah Locke drained two triples and a Brandon Horvath three-point play gave Bamberg the lead 69-68. The Ludwigsburg defense responded by keeping Bamberg scoreless for more than 3 minutes and a 7-0 run made it 75-69 with 45 seconds remaining. The guests ended up missing four free throws in the final 27 seconds only to survive a final comeback attempt.
Numbers Please: Ludwigsburg held Bamberg to just 38 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers while the guests only committed 4 turnovers in the game.
Player of the Game: Even though Justin Simon was big with 12 points and 10 assists, Joel Scott led the way for Ludwigsburg with 21 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Germans: Ludwigsburg's 18-year-old Julis Baumer scored a career-high 9 points to go with 1 rebound and 1 steal while Brandon Tischler chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds and Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann tallied 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Moritz Krimmer scored 7 points for Bamberg with Filip Stanic tallying 3 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. And Karsten Tadda had 3 points on his special night.
Bamberg can't use rare defensive showing: Bamberg came into the contest having averaged 92.7 points in the last six games. But they were just 1-5 in those games as they had surrended an average of 99.5 points over that stretch.

Tadda’s career comes full circle: Karsten Tadda moved into a tie for first place in Bundesliga appearances since the start of data collection in 1998 with his 638th game - pulling even with Alex King, who was in Bamberg for the contenst. Tadda will break the record on Thurasday May 8 against ratiopharm ulm. He made his debut on November 11, 2007 with Bamberg, where he was born and raised and developed in the Bamberg youth ranks. Tadda, whose first game was against Ludwigsburg, collected five German league crowns including the “triple double” of league and cup doubles from 2010 to 2012 with Bamberg. He also won the league title in 2013 and 2015 with Bamberg while also helping Telekom Baskets Bonn win the Basketball Champions League in 2023. He also played with Gießen, ratiopharm ulm, EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Bonn. Tadda also earned 89 appearances with the German national team, playing in three FIBA EuroBaskets (2013, 2015 and 2017). Next on the list of active players going into the game was John Bryant with 484 games played followed by Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann with now 447.
What's Up Next: Bamberg’s next game will be on Thursday May 8 when they play at ratiopharm ulm before ending the season at home on Sunday May 11 against RASTA Vechta. Ludwigsburg will return home and welcome SYNTAINICS MBC on Wednesday May 7 and finish the regular season on Sunday May 11 at FC Bayern Munich.
