ratiopharm ulm secured a spot at least in the Play-Ins as they used a 17-0 fourth quarter spurt to run away with a 96-71 victory at ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES. Ulm have won four straight games for an 18-9 record thanks to Trevion Williams picking up a big double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Rostock last week snapped a 13-game losing streak but the hosts returned to their losing ways for a 7-20 record. Derrick Alston paced the losing side with 18 points.
Game Summary: Rostock started well with the first seven points and a 10-2 lead. Ulm found a bit of rhythm and made it 14-11 and trailed 21-15 after 10 minutes. Ulm picked up their game to start the second half and knotted the game 23-23. The guests went ahead 30-25 and three triples in the final 3 minutes gave Ulm a 43-36 cushion at halftime.
A big dunk and three-pointer from Derrick Alston helped Rostock trim the gap to 48-45. Trevion Williams sparked Ulm’s 13-2 run to open their first double digit lead 61-47. Tyler Nelson drained 3 three-pointers in a 13-3 Rostock run to pull within 63-60. Ulm scored the final four points of the quarter and led 67-60 after 30 minutes. Rostock remained close for the first 2 minutes of the fourth quarter and trailed 69-64. But Ulm drained a trio of three-pointers in an 17-0 run over more than 5 minutes to build an 86-64 lead with under 4 minutes to play. And the game was decided.
Numbers Please: Ulm committed only 9 turnovers and and shot 63.2 percent on two-pointers including 12 three-pointers. Rostock shot only 37.7 percent for the game including 41.7 percent on two-pointers. The hosts made just 3-of-16 field goal attempts in the fourth quarter. Ulm also held an 18-3 advantage on second chance points.
Player of the Game: Trevion Williams showed once again why he was selected into the BKT EuroCup All-First Team and is a serious MVP candidate in the easyCredit BBL. The big man poured in 22 points on 10-of-17 shots to go with 13 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The Germans: Philipp Herkenhoff scored 13 points with 4 rebounds for Ulm and Karim Jallow added 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 block. Till Gloger had 3 points and 2 rebounds for Rostock.
Also Newsworthy Part I: The reigning champions Ulm will have a chance to defend their title in the post-season. The victory means Ulm can finish no worse than 10th place, meaning Anton Gavel's team locked up at least a spot in the Play-Ins.
Also Newsworthy Part II: Ulm were able to get some revenge against Rostock after losing to the northern German side at home 107-89 at home in Round 10. Ulm's victory evened their all-time record to 2-2 against Rostock.
What's Up Next: Rostock will head on the road for Round 29 as they face Würzburg Baskets on Saturday April 20. Ulm will have a home game for Round 29 as they host SYNTAINICS MBC on Sunday April 21.
